“They are very special cool” whispered the woman. "They can make dreams come true" .
So Monsieur Bibot, a tidy and pedantic dentist, receives two figs as a gift from an elderly patient who cannot afford to pay him. Irritated at being cheated, he throws the woman out of the office in a bad way. But he can't imagine what upheaval in his life those two figs will bring… Once again Chris Van Allsburg moves in a borderland between fantasy and reality, creating a mysterious and suspenseful story. Simple and direct text is flanked by elegant images in delicate shades of gray, cream and brown, reminiscent of the sepia tones of photographs and convey a feeling of calm. The changing perspective, which increases the reader's involvement, and the realistic use of light integrate the fictional story into our daily life. One of the most significant works of Van Allsburg's literary career, which will not fail to fascinate readers of all ages.
