The death of a person raises endless questions, often destined to remain unanswered.
Some of these concern the objects that those who die leave behind: memories and symbols of real life that are suddenly left without of their intimate meaning ... even more so if the deceased is a mysterious and extravagant character who in his last will asks to be buried in the uniform of an admiral even though he has never held this role.
When the small anonymous narrator of this register, written and illustrated by Antonio Bonanno, he moves with his parents to the villa inherited from his eccentric grandfather, everyone's first thought is to finally cross the threshold of the Secret Rooms , three rooms where the old man spent long hours and which were closed to all the others.
Follow in religious silence the heirs of this singular character in the dim light of his mysterious rooms to discover the bizarre objects that are kept there. Let yourself be enchanted once again by the elegant ink hatching of the author, who, with his usual attention to detail, engages in the meticulous representation of useless inventions such as the "air chopping machine", bizarrely assorted hybrids like a cup-pipe and curious collections, like that of unmatched socks.
An evocative inventory of the objects that each of us leaves at the end of our passage on earth, and which continue to tell those who remain the stories of those who have gone away.
